The clients, both avid sailors, loved their brick terrace overlooking the Connecticut River, and wanted to enclose the area to make it part of their home, to use as a place to host gatherings and family celebrations. We created a multi-level space so that no matter where you stand, the view is amazing. The kitchen now overlooks boat-inspired teak built-in sofas, with a radiant-heat tile floor that extends out to a covered terrace, with wide granite steps down to the pool. Because the home is in an historic district, we presented the design to a review committee and won approval with no revisions. A copper rain chain, arched chimney, and a new paved terrace complete the finely detailed exterior.
